charming stay with lively locals
The Jolly Sailor Hotel offered a good experience, from the warm greetings of Kathy, the amazing landlady, to the fantastic live music, made our evening nice. The homemade chilli con carne was a hearty highlight of our trip, complementing the cozy atmosphere perfectly.
Navigating the stairs with a pram proved challenging thanks to the hotel layout, which might deter families with young children. Reaching staff before 5 PM was tricky, often leading to uncertainty if assistance was needed.

Parking was a real hassle. The narrow streets were nearly all lined with double yellow lines. I was surprised to find the bathroom was shared and quite far down the corridor, which wasn't ideal at night. It also caught me off guard that breakfast meant cooking for myself with ingredients available in the kitchen. Not what I expected when advertised as included. It would have been better to have clearer info on these details up front.

The place was outstanding value for money. Had 1 day in Cawood, spending our time here lovely. Booked a room with a comfy bed. Tea and coffee making equipment, an oven, and a stovetop were available too. Really enjoyed the location near the river.

The noise from the busy main road kept me up at night, and the shared bathroom was in such disarray, not at all what one would expect. I almost thought about leaving a complimentary review, but a warm welcome gift would've been nice. Truly disappointing, really.

Perfect for Solo Travelers
Tried the homemade Jolly pie, chips and peas for dinner, it was hearty and hit the spot after a long day.
Wasn't exactly inexpensive but acceptable for the experience I got.
